Mystery of Tang Dynasty City

Mystery of Tang Dynasty City

UE Level Demo Group Project | Technical Art

Tang Dynasty City is an ancient city in northwest Xinjiang that is still under archaeological excavation. Due to its long history but limited surviving remains, this project aims to attract public attention by temporarily reconstructing it virtually.

This video presents an overview of the entire UE level demo, which mainly includes the inner city, outer city, elevated platform city, as well as the surrounding walls, gates, trees, buildings, rivers, and more. It takes into account both archaeological evidence and aesthetic considerations.

In addition to the handcrafted assets, this demo extensively utilizes procedural generation techniques and Houdini, including for terrain, rivers, tree distribution, and building generation.

The left image shows the map of the demo, while the right image illustrates how various details correspond to the archaeological reports.
